MUSIC LINKS

Some inspiring piano performances:

Keith JarretKeith Jarrett solo. Improvisation as a true free spirit.

Glen GouldGlen Gould plays the Goldberg variations by J. S. Bach (BWV 988). Of the two Gould studio recordings of this masterpiece this one is perhaps the most virtuosic.

…and on the trumpet:

Maurice AndreMaurice Andre plays Georg Philipp Telemann. André (who died in 2012) remains the favourite virtuoso on this instrument for many professional brass players, with a tone and approach that was inherently musical, playing with other musicians rather than over them.

Miles DavisMiles Davis plays Funny Valentine. Some of the early Davis recording are sublime, with several recording of Funny Valentine among his most intimate. He shares André’s uncanny ability to play with other musicians, opening up new areas of space seldom heard in improvised music before.
